So in case anyone hasn't heard already at least twelve thousand times, Steve Jobs will be unveiling the highly-anticipated new tablet computer from Apple in just a few hours. Maybe it will revolutionise computing, or maybe it'll fail to live up to the incessant media hye - who knows?

Whatever happens in the next few hours it will no doubt merit at least some time and attention from anyone even remotely interested in matters of web, technology and electronics, and with that in mind here's a link to a live web feed of the event itself, courtesy of the good people at Endgadget. (Start time is around 6pm GMT so get onto it fairly soon...)

Enjoy!

p.s. Like pretty much every single other blog out there, we will be discussing the details in depth - but only once we have them (one feels that there is already enough speculation and 'artist's impressions' of the the tablet out these already...)

As we enter a new year and a new decade, both printed and online media are delivering the usual 'looking-back-on-the-past-year/decade' style pieces, followed by 'predictions-for-the-next-year/decade' ones. Though one can sometimes get a little bored of the format, it's worth noting that this boredom is very quickly dispelled once you come across an actual interesting and well-written list. And here are a couple of quick links to two such well-written and informative pieces...

The first is Techcrunch's annual list of technology which blogger Michael Arrington uses everyday. The list is lengthy and extremely informative, and mercifully steers clear of the super obvious options you might expect. Get over to Techcrunch to find out more on that one.

Secondly, Endgadget has a great 'ten gadgets of the decade' feature which is well-balanced to cover the period evenly, though I should warn you that you might end up shopping for these items before you know it, despite having not considered them necessary before (read with self-restraint if the Christmas hoohah has left you somewhat financially crippled...)

Anyway, that's all - hope you enjoy some top journalism from two of the finest tech and web blogs out there :)

Here's a few quick links to some pretty interesting articles, videos and other content which has been the pick of what i've come across in the past few days.

Firstly Guardian tech have compiled a viral video chart of online vids that are proving popular this week, with the help of viralvideochart.com. Follow the link for 3 choice gems, including a vid of a teenager solving a rubix cube with one hand, while acing Guitar Hero (on expert) with the other, all done backwards in a mirror - then there's the guy who catches laptops with his butt, but i don't wanna say anymore or i'll spoil it for you...

After all that silliness, and in keeping with the compilation lists feel, there's a great round-up of the 35 best iPhone apps of the year over at Techcrunch. The post even includes some nice video demonstrations which had me logging into the appstore within minutes.

Finally Endgadget has a nice preview of Verbatim's forthcoming InSight USB drives, which look super sleek and stylish - and are equipped with a display which always (even when disconnected) provides info on capacity, drive name and free space - all for $119.99 for the 320 GB version. Looks like solving the problem of having to waste time finding and turning on a computer to get the info, which is what i've been doing previously (all my externals are the same model and make).

That's all for now - more web highlights later in the week
