So, WOW comes once again to the iPhone (the previous incarnation of the app came in 2007). Only this time the whole thing is a little more professional than before. Like the earlier versions we again have the game being played remotely and streamed to the iPhone - though things seem to run a lot more smoothly with this new version.

It's certainly not the finished thing yet (lag issues remain), but by then Apple shares will be soaring (apparently WOW is quite popular...). I don't often go in for Wall Street speculating but I reckon the closer we get to a complete WOW app for the iPhone, the higher those shares will jump. According to a *quite* regular WOW player friend of mine (25ish hours a week) this new iPhone version is very playable for certain types of in-game tasks ('chores' such as mining or harvesting).

With the Apple app store reporting this week that app downloads have now exceeded 1 billion, the iPhone can only go from strength to strength. When the hardware comes along which will enable the iPhone CPU to run WOW adequately without needing assistance from a remote system then I don't doubt that it will be just a matter of time before we see another billion fly off the 'shelves'. For now though I'm off to find a stockbroker who can get me £20's worth of Apple shares...
