I’ve been exploring the current incarnation of StudentBox beta recently and am liking what I see so far. While feeling intuitive and instantly usable, the network also offers some pretty cool and novel features which could prove to be major strengths in the long run.

First of all – this network is exclusively for students. Which means that all its services are highly specialised for the needs of this particular user group. Facebook et al are great for general socialising, communication and fun but don’t cover student life in any specific depth. This week saw the launch of one of etonDIGITAL’s most anticipated new projects with; the new-look online student community B2B website StudentBox.org. Originally founded in 2006, StudentBox has grown into an international hub for providing a range of services for students and relevant organisations, and is now enjoying a steady rate of growth. With the site’s creator, Carl Pihl, currently appearing on the hit BBC business show ‘The Last Millionaire’, the prospects for StudentBox look very bright indeed.

etonDIGITAL’s design features a Wordpress CMS, as well as CSS design and XHTML. This initial launch marks the first step in a programme of work to launch a range of exciting new featureson StudentBOX.com – so keep an eye out for future developments!

One of etonDIGITAL’s newest clients and StudentBox founder, Carl Pihl, is currently appearing in the hit BBC Three series ‘The Last Millionaire‘. Carl is one of twelve entrepreneurs taking part in the show, which sees them test their wits and business acumen in a range of cities worldwide each week. The series has only recently started so you can still easily catch up with the action, just as the competition is really hotting up!
